On October 13 & 14th 2023 The University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) and Scarborough Health Network (SHN) brought together triads of presenters from academic research, clinical expertise, and community perspectives to address health inequities across Canada.

Joint Message From the Organizing Leadership

Hello fellow healthcare and academic professionals, leaders, learners, researchers, and partners.

It is our pleasure to welcome you to Building Communities Through Inclusive Health, an inaugural national conference jointly hosted by the Scarborough Health Network (SHN) and University of Toronto’s Scarborough Campus (UTSC).

Throughout this two-day event, we will hear from triads of clinicians, scholars, and community members who will collaborate to bring meaningful discussion on how to bridge health inequities experienced by marginalized populations nationwide. This unique ‘tri-perspective’ will provide a richer and more complex understanding of the interaction of social conditions and health, as well as their implications towards achieving a more resilient and equitable health system.

Together, we will learn about the bold ideas, lessons and innovations that come from understanding the healthcare needs of the under-represented and under-served nationally, and that help us to address the systemic barriers to health inequity across the country.

Come and be a part of this occasion for celebration, discovery, and learning. Let’s challenge and change health inequities through research, innovation, and partnership! We look forward to deepening connections and sharing in this step of the journey.

Cheers,
David Graham – President and CEO, SHN
